Relive the electrifying experience of Rolling Loud California 2023, where Backwoods brought the smoke. Since its establishment in 2015, Rolling Loud, an internationally acclaimed hip-hop music festival, has become a global phenomenon. Complex Networks describes it as “one of the biggest festivals in the world,” while Billboard magazine hails it as "the be-all of hip-hop festivals."
Backwoods took center stage at Rolling Loud California. To raise the stakes even higher, our activation footprint was located in the exclusive artist compound, only accessible to celebrities and performing talent.
Our aim was to connect with the vibrant spirit of Los Angeles by building a space that truly resonated with the artists, their guests, and the media. In homage to the local culture, we designed the Backwoods Super Store, inspired by the iconic Slauson Swap Meet. As a brand with a strong bond with its adult customers, we wanted the Super Store to be a visually stunning activation space with instantly sharable and memorable elements.
The space itself was a wonder, featuring a towering sign and a low rider adorned with a stunning flower installation. This served as the backdrop for countless media outlets conducting interviews with musical artists. Our activation also included three Backwoods correspondents – Brittany Renner (Lifestyle), Tallie Spencer (Music), and Lizzy Jeff (Cultural) – who engaged in interviews and conversations with the artists, adding a deeper layer to the experience.

To further enhance the Backwoods presence, we developed a range of branded elements and merchandise exclusively for the space. Our branded T-shirts, cellphone cases, bags, and hoodies, all in a variety of colors, were not only displayed as retail items but also distributed as coveted swag. The Backwoods Super Store emerged as the undeniable highlight of the artist compound.
Through our strategic footprint design, we positioned Backwoods as a lifestyle brand that deeply connects with its brand fans by incorporating recognizable cultural elements. Our goal was to engage Adult Tobacco Consumers in the artist compound to demonstrate how Backwoods is ingrained into the very fabric of the culture, while showcasing the brand’s multifaceted lifestyle components.
